Entwined Star Quilt Block Pattern

Entwined Star Quilt Block Pattern is a variation on an eight-pointed star made from a basic nine-patch block. There are a number of related stars. I designed it for a sampler quilt when I was doing a Block of the Month through the quilt shop I was working for. I had decided to do a variation of each of the blocks that we made because I wanted a larger quilt.

As I worked with the pattern I discovered that by varying the place of the colors they seemed to interweave. It requires three distinct values, light medium and dark for the greatest effect.

There are a number of possible variations, one has an open center and another has a dark center. It can be fun with a fussy cut center featuring a theme of some sort such as the variation I used in my Christmas quilt.

Entwined Star christmas block Well… the BOM quilt ended up as a child’s quilt, in spite of my initial plans, since we used 30’s fabrics. The Entwined Star design intrigued me so much that made two quilts with it, and then I turned it into a pattern, and wrote a class.
