Log Cabin quilt block by Lynne Goldsworthy

Log Cabin quilt block By Lynne Goldsworthy is a wonderful pattern that has unique details in the pattern made by Quilter Lynner and also publisher. This is a wonderful pattern that you can now get to know it up close and of course download and make and have in your quilt collection. So let’s get to know this beautiful work?

Log Cabin quilt block By Lynne Goldsworthy

Log Cabin quilt block
Log Cabin quilt block by Lynne Goldsworthy

Before anything else is necessary to know that this wonderful standard was made or developed by Lynne Goldsworthy and her work is exposed in the gathered.how. Now that you have this in mind we can speak more openly about beautiful work with printed fabrics.

Not if you’re reading this here now, think like me, but sometimes choosing the print or the color of the fabric is the biggest difficulty that I pass, sometimes you have many options for a single idea, once no idea for the prints and colors that we have, that’s where this pattern of Lynne changes a little bit the way we can interact colors and prints and the best pattern we can do.

Log Cabin quilt block allows us to have the most diverse ideas with the colors being that no matter how much we need to change or invent, it is necessary to have an inspiration, after all if a song is not inspired how it can sing beautiful songs?

Quilt is no different sometimes what we do or the moment we are inspired the ideas come in such a serene way that we don’t even believe it’s a fact… how many times have you done a job and thought: “I can’t believe I did this” isn’t it true?

Log Cabin quilt block
Log Cabin quilt block by Lynne Goldsworthy

I think, I repeat: “I think” that Lynne must have said it in her heart, because this wonderful work of hers has left me thinking about many other variables of what I can do. Speaking of the pattern the colors complete each other perfectly here in this kilt.

Shades of blue with other shades of brown and red was the essential for this Log Cabin quilt block is within what I call perfect work, I’m sure you agree with me.

Lynne said in her article about this pattern: “We’ve created this handy pair of foundation paper piecing patterns to help you sew up this beautiful Cabin in the Sky quilt by Lynne Goldsworthy. This quilt pattern was the star project of our supplement with issue 24 of Today’s Quilter. If you’re sewing along at home, download the free quilt patterns below.

Why foundation piece your Log Cabins quilt? These templates are especially handy if you find piecing on such a small scale fiddly.  Lynne says, “foundation piecing your blocks may take slightly longer but will give a really neat finish to these small blocks.”

Her Cabin in the Sky quilt (below) combines two classic Log Cabin blocks: the traditional Log Cabin and the Pineapple block“.

She’s used the calming blues and creams of Edyta Sitar’s Blue Sky line of fabrics (available in the UK from Andover Fabrics), brought to life by the red squares: a traditional Log Cabin centrepiece.

Appliqué birds
Appliqué birds

Appliqué birds cushion pattern is a pattern you can find on gathered.how website and when talking about this pattern we can notice some very interesting details that few quilter’s even unnotice. In fact every pattern I make, that a client asks for or that I’m going to make for a gift I like to observe every important detail and its representation for my person.

I really enjoy the part where the birds are resting above the branches coming off the main flower below. This flower is accompanied by some well done and well introduced leaves in the final drawing with Appliqué birds.

The gains were well designed and appropriate for the occasion with colors that don’t draw attention and instead are attention to the two birds that are actually a couple.

(I like to think it is a couple of birds) and I am sure you should or could think the same way after all this kind of free pattern is always a romantic inspiration.

Idea decorations

Decorative pillows are indispensable items when composing the harmony of environments that need to reflect well-being, warmth, and comfort. They have been used in decoration since the 1960s, when, together with rugs, they made the rooms more uncluttered, following the counterculture of the time.

Quilt Block Tutorial Block It’s time to make. TheBlock tutorial from Riley Blake’s Meet the Makers series. Once again, I’m using a mix of fabrics from my Gingham Girls and Sunnyside Avenue collections. Important note: if you use the no-waste method above, you will cut your fabrics differently than the cutting list above.

Quilt Block Tutorial Block 3

Quilt Block Tutorial Block by Riley Blake’s

Here is the  braid quilt block tutorial for this fun star within a star, Block #3. The Fabric Requirements per block Riley White:

  • 4 – 3″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles for large flying geese
  • 4 – 3″ x 3″ squares
  • 4 – 3″ x 1 3/4″ rectangles for small flying geese
  • 4 – 1 3/4″ x 1 3/4″ squares
  • Cayenne: 1 – 3″ x 3″square
  • Lipstick: 4 – 3″ x 3″squares
  • Petunia: 4 – 3″x 3″ squares
  • Sugar Pink: 8 – 1 3/4″ x 1 3/4″ squares

If you prefer to make your flying-geese using the no-waste four-at-a-time flying geese method I’ve got a tutorial here as well as a cutting chart.

For the four outside flying geese blocks you will need one large white 6 1/4″ x 6 1/4″ squares and four colored 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ squares.

For the four smaller inside flying geese blocks you will need one large white (or I used a print) 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ square and four colored 2 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ square. Quilt Block Tutorial Block is perfect for all?

Can quilt blocks be any size?

The most simple quilt block to scale up or down is a block made up of only squares of fabric. For a nine-patch block, any finished block size will work as long as it is divisible by three. Finished sizes that are possible include: 15-inch block: Nine squares that finish at 5 inches by 5 inches each.

Why are my quilt blocks too small?

With too big of a seam allowance, your blocks might turn out smaller than you expected. Whether you’ve got a quarter-inch presser foot, rely on sewing machine markings, or use Craftsy’s sticky note method, you’ll want to measure it with a ruler to make sure it’s actually a scant 1/4-inch and not slightly off in size.

What is the most popular quilt block size?

Probably the most common size of quilt block (and definitely the most preferred of the FaveQuilts audience), the 12-inch size is great because it’s so versatile, and you’ve got plenty of space to show off your clever use of HSTs or fussy cut fabrics.

Here’s my variety of stars for this week’s block. This time I decided to mix up the colors a little more so that I can play with more of the different fabrics and combinations. Because scrappy makes me happy. But here’s an example of a quilt made with a similar quilt block in only 2 colors and I love it too!

If you are a beginning quilter looking for free and easy quilt patterns, check out this list of my favorite beginner quilting patterns!

In this list, you’ll find a ton of ideas for easy quilts made from simple shapes or pre-cut fabric, like layer cakes and jelly rolls, too!
